Privacy policy
Last updated 26 October 2026
This policy explains what information Stash collects when you create a stash, follow creators or subscribe to updates, and how that information is used.
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address, display name, @ handle and account type.
- Profile details you choose to add: bio, location text, photos and social links.
- Content you publish: stash cards, photos, check-ins, ratings, comments and replies.
- Subscription emails: the email you use to subscribe to a creator, whether or not you have an account.
Information collected as you use Stash
- Card activity: link clicks, map pin opens and code copies are recorded so the creator can see totals for their own cards.
- Ratings without an account are saved under a random key stored on your device, so you can change your rating later.
- Your device's location is only requested when you press the current-location button, and is used to suggest a nearby address.
- When a creator opens the camera on a place card, Stash checks their location every 20 seconds for up to 10 minutes while that screen stays open. We store only the distance from the saved place and how accurate the reading was, never the raw coordinates. We also store a fingerprint of the captured photo or video so it can't be swapped later.
Services that process your information
- Supabase hosts accounts, the database and uploaded photos.
- OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service receives the address or map point you search for.
- When you use AI writing help, the text you submit is sent to an AI provider to produce a draft. Nothing is saved until you review and save it.
What is public
Your public profile, published cards, follower count, ratings, comments and photos are visible to anyone with your link. Email addresses are never shown publicly or to creators in their follower lists. A “Checked in on location” badge shows the capture date, rough distance and length of stay, never the creator's exact position. Draft cards stay private to you.
Your choices
- Edit or remove your profile details and cards at any time from your dashboard.
- Unfollow creators or unsubscribe from email updates whenever you like.
- Ask us to delete your account and its content, and we will remove it unless we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top.
